Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. Our oral and maxillofacial surgeons manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. South Sound Oral Surgery practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. We can also diagnose and treat facial anomalies, facial injuries and fractures.
Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation and outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery. In addition, general anesthesia provided by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is available within our facility.
The surgical staff at South Sound Oral Surgery are all registered dental assistants who are well experienced in oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures. Many of our assistants are trained in administration of IV sedation for surgery through the dental anesthesia assistant national certification examination (DAANCE). We also have certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) to assist in administration of anesthesia for surgery. Our office staff includes informed administrative personnel, well-versed in health and insurance policies and all of our staff are CPR certified.
